In this Alumni Spotlight we caught up with Abigail Weech, Massage Therapist graduate who currently is self employed and works at Monacella Massage & Kinesiology.
Where have you worked since you graduated and where do you currently work? What is your title?
I actually have two jobs; I have been hired on at Monacella Massage & Kinesiology, and I also have my own practice, Sophrosyne Center, LLC. It is a Yoga studio/Massage clinic in downtown Erie which also offers Reiki.
What do you like about your career?
All I need to make someone’s life easier is my own two hands. A table comes in handy of course, but when it comes down to it, I can heal with my own hands. That is amazing.
What did you like most about Great Lakes?
The teachers and the friends I made! The friendships made there will certainly last a lifetime. The program was also far more in depth than I imagined, which was really neat!
What are your career goals for the future?
I intend to be a successful business owner! However, time is much more important to me than money – you can always make more money, but you can never get more time - so if I can earn enough time off to spend with my family and friends to do things that we love together, my goal has been met.
What advice can you give current students and new graduates that can help them be successful?
Study now. Keep up on your assignments (THIS ONE IS HUGE)! Help each other out. Don’t learn the material just to pass a test, learn it because it is your future. Don’t ever give up!
What do you like to do in your free time/any new happenings in your life you want to share?
I like to go mountain biking, hang out with my dog, adventure with my son and significant other, and find new places to explore!
