When Shannon Marzka, Employment Specialist talked with Emily about her career since graduating, Emily said \”I chose GLIT for the Medical Assistant program because it was a fast way for me to get certified as a Medical Assistant. It was close to home, affordable, and the hours made it easy for me to go to school and work.\” Emily said her favorite part about Great Lakes was all of the hands on training. She enjoyed being able to actually do the things she was learning. She says, \”it helped me a LOT at my current job.\”
Currently Emily is working as an Occupational Medicine Receptionist/Medical Assistant in Fairbanks, Alaska. \”My time is split between checking in patients and doing work in the back such as UA drug screens, hair follicle drug screens, and blood draws. I also do off-sites where I go to the job site and perform these tasks. I absolutely love my job!!!\” Congratulations to Emily and her husband, as they are expecting their first child!
