Each graduation, an Outstanding Student receives an award for exemplary performance during their education. This past Tuesday Jasmin Alsabunji of the Dental Assistant program received the award for Great Lakes at our Spring 2015 graduation ceremony. Here is what Vickie Clements, Director of Education, said about her at the event.
Jasmine is receiving this award tonight because of her inner strength, perseverance, and commitment to a better future for her and her children. The last couple months of class, Jasmine overcame many cultural and personal obstacles, yet she came to school every day with a great outlook, becoming a role model for her entire class. Program director Calista Slomski says, \”Jasmine passed her Radiology boards with the highest score I\’ve seen, and was hired at her externship site just a few weeks after she began.\” She fights for what she believes in and she continues to hold to that standard of excellence in her new career.
When reading through the nominations, one quote struck a chord with us all, and that is \”Jasmine\’s cultural norms have made her a lady, but her inner strength has made her a remarkable American citizen.\”
